My wife, Ali, and I reside in Downers Grove with our two children, Cailyn and AJ. Our family can be found cheering on the Northern Illinois University Huskies baseball and volleyball teams – our alma mater! We also enjoy staying active and love to hike, kayak, paddleboard, and spend time in southwest Michigan in the summertime. We’ve made it a goal to visit every National Park in the U.S. and every Major League Baseball stadium in the country.
Aside from sports and traveling, I enjoy reading and giving back to my community. We are active in our church, St. Mary's of Gostyn in Downers Grove. I also coach little league baseball, basketball, hockey, and soccer for my children's teams.
I began my career with Northwestern Mutual in 1998 as a college intern and knew it would become a lifelong career. Since starting a family, my passion for the work we do has grown. They inspire me in my pursuit to impacting and protecting other families.
I have pursued continuing education opportunities to allow me to provide the most thoughtful and strategic advice. I hold the following designations from the American College:

My wife, Kelly, and I are raising our sons, Russ, Ben, and Will, in Wheaton, IL. We are avid Chicago sports fans, and you can find us cheering on the Cubs, Bears, and Bulls. When I’m not spending quality time with family you can find me fishing or out on the golf course.
I am blessed with an amazing family, and they have inspired me to put my all into protecting the financial futures of others. After decades of working in the industry, I have seen firsthand how a holistic financial plan can make a difference when faced with unforeseen circumstances. I approach each plan with the same level of care and consideration that I would provide for my own family.
I am a 3rd generation financial planner, following in the footsteps of my grandfather who spent 40 years of his career in this industry, and my father, a recent retiree after over 30 years in the business. When presented with the opportunity to join the Northwestern Mutual internship program at a job fair in 1999, it was an easy decision to continue the family tradition.
Throughout my career, I have spent time in various leadership roles including mentor, recruiting field director, and Managing Director of the Naperville office for 7 years. In 2019 I handed off the Managing Director title to focus on my personal practice and devote my time solely to my clients.

Matthew John Kulpinski
Financial Planning Analyst and Investment Specialist
Matt joined the team in 2021 as a planning analyst. He is passionate about the industry because it gives him the ability to make a positive and significant impact on every single person he meets. Matt’s primary focus is serving clients by creating financial plans, structuring insurance products, and generating investment reports.
Matt graduated from Saint Xavier University and majored in Business Administration. He holds his FINRA Series 6 & 63 registrations.
He was born and raised in Tinley Park, IL. Matt enjoys fitness, playing sports, faith, and spending time with family and friends.
Nicole joined the team in early 2020 as the Director of Client Relations and Marketing. Nicole is your contact for onboarding, service or support requests, scheduling, completing insurance applications, and handling all marketing initiatives.
She is originally from South Florida and graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a BA in Sociology and Communications. She has an impressive background in Hospitality Management which she integrates into her work with our clients. She is committed to giving every client an exceptional service experience. Nicole is licensed in Life & Health Insurance.
Nicole currently lives in Warrenville with her husband, Joe, and son, Nicholas. They enjoy seeing new places, spending time as a family, hiking, skiing, and just about anything outdoors.
As the Director of Operations, Austin provides holistic client servicing for both insurance and investment products. He works to review accounts, onboard new clients, manage client requests, answer questions, and review plans.
In 2012, Austin graduated with Honors from Saint Xavier University with a BBA in Finance and Accounting and shortly after began his career with Northwestern Mutual. Austin ran his own personal practice for two years before joining the team as the Director of Operations. Austin is licensed in Life & Health Insurance as well as Long Term Care. He is also FINRA Series 6 and 63 registered.
Born and raised in Shorewood, Illinois. Austin now lives in Yorkville with his wife Joanna, son Mason and their dog Tripp. He enjoys spending time with his family and the great outdoors. Austin and his wife enjoy cheering on the Chicago White Sox and Blackhawks.
As Director of Operations, Cathy provides servicing and planning for our client's overall financial plan. She reviews accounts & plans, onboards new clients, and also oversees our Team and our daily operations.
Cathy started working for Northwestern Mutual back in 2016 as an Office Manager and SET Coordinator for the Naperville office. In 2019, Cathy transitioned to the team as our Director of Operations. Cathy is Life & Health licensed as well as she is FINRA Series 6 and 63 registered.
Personally, Cathy was raised and is currently living in the city of Elmhurst. She went to Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, IL. She enjoys spending time with her husband and her daughter, Amelia. Cathy loves to spend time outside gardening as well as spending time inside the kitchen and cooking.
Since joining the team in early 2023, Brittany has added to our client experience by assisting in the on-boarding process. She also guides them through the insurance underwriting process and any client servicing requests.
Prior to joining Northwestern Mutual, she worked in the medical field as an Esthetician and has always enjoyed helping people.
In Brittany's free time, she enjoys spending time with family camping, going on vacation, and watching kids’ sporting events.
